Character planning

I'm honestly contemplating pulling up D & D character reference sheets for use of creating character profiles if I end up leaning more towards a modern day hero story. Man vs. life may be just a little too tame for even me and hey, I like a challenge. I picked up a book with some writing exercises in it and I'm looking forward to NaNoWriMo becoming a launching pad for a life-long writing practice.

What I'm pulling for and the direction in which I'm headed changes a little each day, but so far it's been a beautiful start to a journey. I'm waiting for the anxiety to settle in that I'm really going to attempt to do this seemingly daunting task, but *shrugs* it's possible that I'll pull through with the charisma and gusto all of my own. I really do think that my characters will start to take on lives of their own and take my plot and run with it, dancing and jumping up and down.

  1. I am taking part too! I'm sufficiently excited to neglect work for most of the day and think about my characters.

What do you think is better, chosing a story or chosing people? I'd always go with the latter but for a change I am thinking of a story first :-)
